An efficient way to scale your resale business is to source products wholesale. Authenticated pre-owned Louis Vuitton, Hermes, Chanel, Gucci, and more can be found at wholesale on the secondary market. Wholesale pricing can be anywhere from an additional 25-40% off resale market prices, increasing your margin and profit.

Wholesale designer bags come from countries like Japan that have strict laws regulating the sale of counterfeit goods. Industry professionals attend luxury auctions in Japan to purchase designer handbags in large quantities and then sell these items at wholesale prices to resale companies. Most products come from normal people who took great care of their items and decided to sell.

Wholesale companies offer discounts and preferred pricing to individual resellers and large-scale businesses globally. Many wholesale businesses offer buyers a dedicated specialist that helps source designer items and bulk discounts on items like handbags, backpacks, travel Items, SLGs (small leather goods), belts, and jewelry. Buying wholesale is an easy way to have access to the top luxury brands or find exactly what you are looking for to sell.

When your resale business is starting out, focus on classic styles like Louis Vuitton Monogram Neverfull MM, Favorite MM, Totally MM, or Artsy MM. These bags are always in demand and will have a decent profit margin. Other items that sell well at a lower price point would be Louis Vuitton wallets like the Sarah and Elise wallets.

Many companies require proof of resale/business license and an order minimum to purchase at wholesale prices. Be aware that many of the items you see online advertising designer goods could be counterfeit items unless items are authenticated by a third-party authenticator like Entrupy.

5 tips for buying wholesale designer goods

  1. Know what you’re looking for! Create a list with names of styles you’re looking for and the price you are willing to pay for each. Do your research ahead of time to see which items are selling at what price (feel free to ask in the PLP too!).
  2. Check their inventory. It’s a red flag when you see a supplier that has endless quantities of styles like Neverfulls or Chanel WOCs. Authentic suppliers will have new styles every season and limited amounts of inventory.
  3. Look for B2B wholesale pricing so you can make a profit. Look for 50-85% off retail for past-season merchandise and 25-45% off retail for current season merchandise.
  4. Check the supplier’s contact information. Legitimate suppliers will provide their contact information containing their name, address (which should NOT be a PO BOX), telephone number, and e-mail. It’s a huge red flag if you have to do any digging to find out where a supplier is located, how to get into contact with them, etc.
  5. Make sure they accept credit cards or PayPal. With these forms of payment, you are protected should anything go wrong. If suppliers only accept wire transfers or money orders, proceed with extreme caution.
